چکیده

Arabica coffee is a perennial cash crop and highly affected by biennial bearing which disturbs farmers’ annual income world’s industries. Developing nonbiennial variety prominent in addition to applying field management practices. This study was conducted from 2012 2020 southwestern Ethiopia at Tepi Gera test the extent of genetic variability among Arabic germplasm understand influences bienniality on advanced selection. The pooled analysis variance revealed handiness yield bearing. moderate genotypic coefficient variation (10–20%), heritability (30–50%), high advance as percentage mean (>20%) were manifested Response selection efficiency negatively Early excluded 30–40% top yielders Selection four harvesting seasons 90% more efficiency. Thus, one has be conscious alternate nature lines during Both T43/11 T51/11 showed low Tepi. T33/11, T49/11, T55/11, T61/11 very both locations. These are promising could recommended for further improvement breeding programs.

Equine poisoning by coffee husk (Coffea arabica L.)

BACKGROUND In Brazil, coffee (Coffea arabica) husks are reused in several ways due to their abundance, including as stall bedding. However, field veterinarians have reported that horses become intoxicated after ingesting the coffee husks that are used as bedding. The objective of this study was to evaluate whether coffee husk consumption causes intoxication in horses. RESULTS Six horses fed c...

Genetic Diversity of Arabica Coffee (Coffea arabica L.) in Nicaragua as Estimated by Simple Sequence Repeat Markers

Coffea arabica L. (arabica coffee), the only tetraploid species in the genus Coffea, represents the majority of the world's coffee production and has a significant contribution to Nicaragua's economy. The present paper was conducted to determine the genetic diversity of arabica coffee in Nicaragua for its conservation and breeding values. Twenty-six populations that represent eight varieties in...

PHYSIOLOGICAL DOSE-RESPONSE OF COFFEE (Coffea arabica L.) PLANTS TO GLYPHOSATE DEPENDS ON GROWTH STAGE

Glyphosate is the main herbicide used in coffee (Coffea arabica L.) plantations in Brazil. Problems with herbicide drift commonly occur in orchard fields due to non-adequate spraying conditions. A series of experiments was carried out aiming to evaluate physiological dose-response of C. arabica plants submitted to exposure to simulated glyphosate drift in two distinct plant growth stages. Glyph...

Endophytic bacteria in Coffea arabica L.

Eighty-seven culturable endophytic bacterial isolates in 19 genera were obtained from coffee plants collected in Colombia (n = 67), Hawaii (n = 17), and Mexico (n = 3). Both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria were isolated, with a greater percentage (68%) being Gram negative. Tissues yielding bacterial endophytes included adult plant leaves, various parts of the berry (e.g., crown, pulp, ...

Influence of Environmental Conditions and Genetic Background of Arabica Coffee (C. arabica L) on Leaf Rust (Hemileia vastatrix) Pathogenesis

Global warming is a major threat to agriculture worldwide. Between 2008 and 2013, some coffee producing countries in South and Central America suffered from severe epidemics of coffee leaf rust (CLR), resulting in high economic losses with social implications for coffee growers. The climatic events not only favored the development of the pathogen but also affected the physiological status of th...
